Research at the Faculty of Engineering and Science (ENGINEERING) is wide-ranging, spanning from basic to application-oriented research. It holds the potential to contribute to solving major global societal challenges.

Research at the Faculty of Engineering and Science (ENGINEERING) is wide-ranging, spanning from basic to application-oriented research that can solve major global societal challenges. This includes: the transition to green energy, ensuring clean water for the world's population, and smart and innovative methods of production. Research at the faculty is conducted in five departments, each within their core area and collaboratively across areas and with other national and international research institutions to achieve the best results.

The Faculty of Engineering and Science is represented on Aalborg University's campuses in Aalborg, Esbjerg and Copenhagen.

A sustainable development of the society

The Faculty of Engineering and Science's research and sustainability profile is based on the faculty's spearhead agendas as well as local, national and international agendas, and sets the direction for how the faculty will engage with sustainability in the coming years. The link between engineering, science and digital tools is the focal point of a profile that addresses nine sustainable focus areas.

Department of the Built Environment

BUILD conducts research, trains students and consults in the urban, residential, construction and infrastructure areas. Based on this the department contributes to solving society's biggest challenges, such as the climate crisis, population development, resource scarcity and urbanisation.

Department of Energy

The Department of Energy trains students and conducts research in areas such as energy efficiency, renewable energy, electrification and CO2 storage. With this focus, the department invests its expertise and impact in the green transition.

Department of Chemistry and Bioscience

The Department of Chemistry and Bioscience conducts research and trains students in chemistry, environment, biology and biotechnology. The department has a tradition of collaborating with the business community on new and innovative research, nationally as well as internationally.

AAU Admission Course offers fast, targeted single-subject courses, turbo courses and a full entrance exam for all engineering courses, Surveying and Planning courses and mechanical courses in Denmark.
