Good scientific practice
Good scientific practice
The Purpose of the Guidelines is:
- To promote good scientific research practice at the faculty.
- To disseminate knowledge and understanding of good scientific research practice at ENGINEERING.
- To prevent errors that occur due to a lack of knowledge on standards and principles of good scientific research practice.
AAU Practice Committee
The rector has set up the interdisciplinary AAU Practice Committee. The committee reviews cases of questionable research practice and is responsible for the preliminary review of cases where there is a reasonable suspicion of research misconduct (fabrication, falsification or plagiarism) that are then forwarded to the Danish Committee on Research Misconduct for consideration.
The practice committee does not act as an advisory body but accepts cases when notified and may take up cases on its own initiative if the committee becomes aware of a reasonable suspicion of a violation of good scientific practice.
Danish Rules and Recommendations
On 1 July 2017, the Danish Parliament passed the "Act on Research Misconduct" which defines research misconduct and questionable research practice. Aalborg University’s rules and procedures in this area reflect this law and the Danish Code of Conduct for Research Integrity.
